Our services include an introductory meeting free of charge so that you may be able to get to know us better and make an informed decision as to whether we are the right midwifery team for you. Beyond the first consultation, we will see you monthly through your second trimester, bimonthly through 36 weeks, and weekly for the final month or so of your pregnancy. We often personalize your care to see you more often if this is your first baby or first birth out of hospital, or on a schedule that better fits your lifestyle (which might mean a less rigorous schedule) without any extra charge.

We are available to be present at your labor whenever you want support and not at some pre-defined stage. We will obtain vital signs initially and regularly as labor progresses. The baby’s heart tones are monitored intermittently throughout the course of labor with a handheld doppler and more frequently as the birth approaches. We will speak extensively throughout your prenatal care about how you envision your birth and personalize it to your desires.
After the birth when both mother and baby are stable and content, a newborn exam will be done. Both mother and baby’s vitals will be monitored on a regular basis, breastfeeding will be initiated, and we will guide the new family as they settle into normal postpartum routines.

We provide all immediate newborn care including the initial examination following the birth, vitamin k, newborn eye prophylaxis, PKU screening and well baby checkups for the first six weeks following the birth. We recommend that you obtain an appropriate care provider for your newborn before labor and delivery, especially if you desire to have your newborn receive vaccinations, circumcision, etc. If you would like counseling on those options and more, our team is happy to provide education and resources.
We have a secret in our culture and it's not that birth is painful, it's that women are strong.

Wouldn't it be nice if you didn't have to stress over what to pack in your hospital bag, or rush around the house throwing things together last-minute?! Nurturing Care
Midwifery is often a much less expensive birth option than hospital birth, as many insurance plans involve a high deductible, burdensome monthly premiums, and a long list of services that are not covered by your plans. Get personalized, caring support for a low cost, including payment plans and the option to bill your insurance!
Our $6,500* birth package includes comprehensive maternity care, birth in our beautiful birth center suite or at home, and complete newborn and postpartum care as well as lactation support from the midwives. This includes the mid-pregnancy anatomy ultrasound done by our technician and read by the radiologist, all prenatal appointments and in-house scans, routine lab work, and newborn, postpartum, and lactation care through 6 weeks (37 week home visit and two-day follow up appointment will take place in your home). You will be provided with all the birth supplies, a complete birthing tub set up, towels and sheets at the 37 week visit.

Home birth and birth suite deliveries are being covered with increasing frequency!
We partner with a professional insurance billing company that can place claims and explore insurance coverage, including pre-authorization for maternity care, by submitting a Verification of Benefits at no charge.
Insurance companies we've had great success getting coverage from or being reimbursed by are United Healthcare, Aetna, and Cigna.
Medicaid, SelectHealth, PEHP, DMBA, and EMI, however, have consistently denied out of hospital birth charges and will likely not cover your birth with Birth Journey Midwifery. For this reason, we offer an all-in-one, turnkey pricing package.
We also accept HSA and Flex Spending payments. For families with a high deductible or who are without insurance, an out of hospital birth can also provide tremendous savings.
A deposit paid to retain our services is required. Reimbursement and refunds will be settled after insurance claim payments are finalized.
